Dekap
Engineering and machining at the Dekap atelier
Technical, for architects, designers, contractors & engineers

Engineering, manufacturing
and finishing, under one roof.

Seventeen years of engineering, machining, fabrication and surface finishing, practised side by side in one Istanbul workshop, so a drawing becomes a finished, coated piece without leaving the building.

Precision manufacturing:
nine capabilities

Each at engineering standards, available individually or end-to-end, from STEP/IGES/Parasolid to a finished, coated part.

Engineering & Design
Concept to production: CAD/CAM, design-for-manufacture, structural detailing and kinetic or moving mechanisms. We engineer before we make.
CNC Vertical Machining
Multi-axis machining of complex parts and components, to drawing.
CNC Turning
Turned parts, shafts and cylindrical components with live tooling and bar feed.
Laser Cutting
Fiber laser cutting of sheet and plate in steel, stainless steel and aluminium.
Press-Brake Bending
CNC press-brake forming, repeatable across a run.
Welded Fabrication
TIG/MIG welded assemblies, frames and structures.
Precision Grinding
Surface and cylindrical grinding for a fine, even finish.
Surface Polishing
Hand and machine polishing up to super-mirror, prepared for coating.
R&D & Prototyping
Material and finish development, test coupons and prototypes, from drawing to sample to production, a single piece or a series.

Standards & quality control

How we measure the work, internally and against international references.

Adhesion
ASTM D3359 (tape) · ASTM D3363 (pencil) · per-batch adhesion testing.
Corrosion
ASTM B117 / ISO 9227 salt-spray (NSS), for marine and exterior pieces.
Compliance
ISO 9001 quality management · RoHS / REACH.
Substrates
Stainless steel 304/316/316L, brass, bronze, copper, titanium and aluminium, with food-safe and water-contact options.

Quality control, every batch: coating-thickness measurement; adhesion testing; surface roughness (Ra, Rz) pre/post; visual inspection at 10× under controlled lighting; dimensional check; and colour verification against reference plates.

Every piece leaves with a batch record, test results and full traceability. Documentation travels with the part.

Technical FAQ

The questions architects, engineers and buyers ask most.

Can you work from our drawings and CAD files?

Yes. We work from STEP, IGES, Parasolid, DWG and DXF, or from drawings and physical references. We can also develop the design with you from a concept or a sketch.

Do you handle design and engineering, or only fabrication?

Both. We can take a finished drawing straight to production, or design and engineer the piece with you, including structural detailing and kinetic or moving mechanisms, before anything is cut.

Which substrates do you work with?

Stainless steel 304 and 316/316L, brass, bronze, copper, titanium and aluminium, with food-safe and water-contact options. We select the substrate with the architect for the room, the light and the wear it will see.

Can you match an existing finish or colour sample?

Yes. We match colours and finishes against a physical sample or reference, and produce a new sample in your substrate for sign-off before production.

Is your PVD food-safe or water-contact safe?

PVD coatings are dense, inert and non-porous, which is exactly why several of them are used in food-contact and water-contact applications. We select the right chemistry for kitchens, bars, bathrooms, pools and spa areas, and support the relevant testing where formal status is required.

Do you do powder coating and wet paint with RAL codes?

Yes. Electrostatic powder coating and wet paint are available in any RAL or NCS reference, even, durable and repeatable across a batch, alongside decorative PVD, electrochemical plating and hand patination.

Can you coat 316 stainless steel for marine use?

Yes, 316/316L marine-grade substrates with corrosion- and salt-resistant finishes, salt-spray tested to ASTM B117 / ISO 9227.

What standards do you test against?

ASTM D3359 & D3363 (adhesion), ASTM B117 / ISO 9227 (salt spray), ISO 9001 and RoHS/REACH, with internal QC including thickness, adhesion, surface roughness, colour consistency and dimensional checks.

What are your lead times and batch sizes?

Typically 2–4 weeks for a first project and 1–2 weeks for repeat batches, depending on geometry, material and finishing. Quantity is open: a single bespoke piece or a high-volume series, finished to the same protocols throughout, agreed per order.

Do you deliver, install and provide samples and spec sheets?

Yes. We produce physical samples in the final substrate, supply per-colour and per-finish documentation and batch records, and deliver with protective packing and insured logistics, with installation coordinated where needed.
