Dekap began in 2009 around the gold-plating bench of a small family workshop in Ataşehir, on the Asian side of Istanbul. The first years were modest: small objects, small jewellery. But a question was already taking root. Why does a surface make a thing feel valuable?

For nearly a decade, the answer came one metal at a time. In 2017 the work began to scale: we invested in PVD and built up everything else a surface could mean: plating, patination, paint and texture, all under one roof. Slowly our pieces began to travel, into hotel lobbies, onto yacht stairs and behind boutique storefronts, quietly and by design.

We were always as much engineers as finishers. Most of what we make is drawn, prototyped and tested before it is built, and some of it moves: pivoting doors, kinetic screens and mechanisms that have to work ten thousand times. We engineer before we make.

For seventeen years our name appeared only on the invoice. Now, with the same hands and the same quiet, we are introducing ourselves directly to the architects, designers, builders and brands who shape these places.

Some things go unnoticed because they are wrong. Others, because they are exactly right. We chose the second.
